An accessible Hatha class with focus on pranayama (breath work), meditation, and, mindfulness practices. Poses are held a little longer as we work with the breath and there’s more time in poses to concentrate on alignment. This class uses Hatha in a traditional sense as a way of preparing the body for meditation that will take place at the end of each class. I know meditation is a concept that sometimes fills people with dread. Honestly when I started practicing me to. My thoughts have a tendency to race a thousand a minute and the misguided interpretation that I somehow had to turn these thoughts off and just sit cross legged made me extremely uncomfortable. But that’s not what meditation is about, our minds are busy, we do have thoughts, that’s not a reason to judge ourselves. Meditation offers an opportunity to observe rather than engage in our thoughts, and maybe sometimes we can shift our focus and find a moment of stillness, and some days we can’t, either way that’s okay. We’ll be doing different types off meditation and mindfulness practices in class and you can choose what’s best for you. Some of the types of meditation included are; Chakra meditation, mindfulness meditation, mantra meditation, loving-kindness meditation, and, progressive muscle relaxation.
This is an open level class and everyone is welcome.

Equipment is provided but in limited supply so if you have your own mat or blocks please bring them along.

Payment available via card prior to class (preferred), however payment in cash is accepted if card payment isn’t possible.
